Saturn Return Calculator

Your Saturn return is the moment Saturn comes back to the exact degree it occupied when you were born. It takes Saturn roughly 29 and a half years to complete one orbit, so the first return lands in the late twenties, the second around 58 to 60, and the third near 88.

What this calculator gives you

  • The exact date of every Saturn return in your lifetime, not just an age range.
  • Each exact hit inside a return — there can be one or three, because Saturn stations retrograde and crosses the same degree more than once.
  • Your natal Saturn by sign, degree and house.
  • Where you are right now: approaching, in it, integrating, or between returns.
  • A phase-by-phase read of what each pass tends to take and what it tends to leave behind.

How the dates are calculated

Saturn's position comes from the Swiss Ephemeris. The calculator finds your natal Saturn longitude, then searches forward for every moment Saturn returns to that exact degree, refining each crossing by binary search rather than rounding to a nearby day. Your birthplace is resolved to coordinates and its timezone, so the dates are correct for where you were born. Houses use the Placidus system.

Frequently asked questions

When does my Saturn return happen?

The first return falls between roughly 27 and 30, depending on where Saturn sat in your chart and how its retrograde cycle lines up with your birthday. The calculator returns your exact dates rather than the average.

How long does a Saturn return last?

The exact hits can span two to three years when Saturn retrogrades back over the same degree. The felt period is usually wider still — around six months either side of the first and last exact pass.

Why does my Saturn return have three dates?

Saturn stations retrograde roughly every year. If it stations after crossing your natal degree, it crosses back over it and then forward again — three exact hits instead of one. Charts where Saturn crosses only once get a single, shorter return.

Do I need my birth time?

No. Saturn moves slowly enough that its sign and degree are reliable from the birth date alone, so the return dates hold without a birth time. A birth time is only needed to place Saturn in a house.

Is the Saturn return calculator free?

Yes. An email address is required so the reading can be sent to you.

What is a second or third Saturn return?

The same event one and two orbits later, near 58–60 and near 88. Each tends to be read as a review of the structure built since the last one.
